There are two types of non-melanoma skin cancer. Squamous cell carcinoma originates in the outermost layer of the epidermis (which is composed of squamous cells). Basal cell carcinoma originates in the lowest layer (composed of basal cells).
Non-melanoma skin cancers are one of the most common cancers diagnosed to date. With a relatively easy diagnosis and treatment, most non-melanoma skin cancer treatments result in a positive outcome.
