Myasthenia Gravis is an autoimmune condition causing fatigue of muscle function especially those responsible for movement of facial expressions and swallowing for example. It is hypothesized that the bodies own defenses initiated by the thymus gland target acetylcholine receptor sites resulting in reduced neurotransmission by acetylcholine.
