2014 has been an incredible year for the cannabis and Smoke Reports. Our team is thrilled to grow alongside such a wonderful and diverse community. It has been quite a journey and there is still so much in store for all of you Smoke Reporters. With the holidays behind us, we want to take the time to reflect on the last year and provide thanks for all of your participation!

Beta Launch, 4/20

Smoke Reports is nothing new. Founder David Drake has been compiling cannabis data for the last eight years, and has finally cultivated the platform for public enjoyment. Smoke Reports had an extremely successful soft-launch on April 20th, introducing the new site to hundreds of connoisseurs at the cannabis celebration in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park.

Hanging Out with Smoke Reports

Shortly after the festivities of 4/20, Smoke Reports released the world’s very first genetic recommendation engine, developed specifically for cannabis! Now, Smoke Reporters (You!) can submit only a handful of cannabis strain or product reviews, and immediately have access to personalized suggestions based on individual preferences. The recommendation engine cross-references your personal reviews with over 3,000 strains and 2,000 concentrates (including edibles) in an effort to provide the necessary information for easy cannabis exploration and discovery.

Team Smoke Reports

Since the soft-launch, the Smoke Reports team has grown from a single innovator into an entire family of specialists. One our biggest missions: improve the relationship between people and cannabis. We believe cannabis deserves a better conversation. Smoke Reports is committed to advancing the tools and resources available for personalizing your cannabis experience.

Just Another Awesome Smoke Reporter!

A lot of development went into the creation of this outstanding information platform, and Smoke Reports is happy to reveal that the development team has brought on their newest coder. Writing code is the foundation of any website, and we have some of the best developers in the world hacking away to build this awesome platform. The Smoke Reports team is not limited to developers though! It takes quite a bit of energy to cultivate a community, and every member of the Smoke Reports gang plays an important role.

Building a Database Means Hours of Hard Work

Building a Database Means Hours of Hard Work

The whole team makes certain that Smoke Reports is providing the most accurate information about cannabis. This means constantly updating existing information on the site and inputting any new strains or products to the database. In the last six months alone, the Smoke Reports database grew by more than 1,000 genetic strains, and the cannabis gurus Smoke Reports are not slowing down! With a huge push in social media and weekly blog posts, the our content creation crew continues to herald the Smoke Reports message.

Not only does cannabis deserve a better conversation, it deserves a better image. Smoke Reports has two new teams bursting with aesthetic skill. When your eyes are captivated by the attractive layout of your strain reports, you can thank the designers. When you are rewatching our promotional videos for the fifth time, wondering how we got Spielberg to help us out, just share in our appreciation for such an incredible creative production crew. Without the hard work from both of these groups, Smoke Reports would not be the visual masterpiece it is today.

The departments constructing Smoke Reports are beyond dedicated, and it is all made possible by the people who bring the support that floats team Smoke Reports! Our exceptional Director of Human Happiness works non-stop to make sure everyone on the team is comfortable, and has the gadgets and toys we need to succeed.

Soft Launch – October 20th

With all of the gears grinding away, Smoke Reports is flourishing, and the entire team is honored to see the cannabis community interacting on our platform. There would be no Smoke Reports without the inspired participation from folks like you. On October 20th, six months after our Golden Gate Park Beta Launch, founder David Drake announced our Hard-Launch with advertisements and fun giveaways. The response has been astonishing, with more web traffic than ever before! It is so rewarding to be creating a tool that individuals can genuinely use to improve their relationship with our favorite plant.

It has been such a blast coming up with contests to give away free Smoke Reports gear! While nearing 420 likes on Facebook, we held a T-shirt raffle for participants who “Liked” our page and posts. The staggering activity forced our CEO to make an executive decision: more than one lucky person was getting sent a new Smoke Reports T-shirt. Smoke Reports understands that sometimes contest rules can be bent for the good of the community, so make certain to follow us for future contests!

Company Support

The conversation about cannabis is a two-way street. For Smoke Reports to be the best source of cannabis information, we need an outlet for companies to be able to proclaim their own message, so consumers can hear about products from the horse’s mouth. Immediately following the Soft Launch in October, Smoke Reports introduced an option for companies to control their own profile pages. This control means dispensaries can accurately control their own menus, so we all know what is on the shelves before walking out our front door. Companies that produce edibles and extracts finally have a space to detail their products, without limiting information and resorting to abrasive advertisements. As more and more companies sign up with Smoke Reports, their listings become polished, resulting in consumers having a fun time exploring cannabis and discovering different options around the neighborhood.

Looking to the Future

After an incredible first eight months, Smoke Reports will spend 2015 continuing to serve our community and responsibly inform. We are dedicated to cannabis and the people who use it. Get excited about upcoming developments, including advanced search filters and refined social capabilities. Users will be able to use Smoke Reports as a private search and discovery tool or a social engagement platform. Everyone has a different relationship with cannabis and your comfort is our primary concern. That is why our privacy settings will allow you to customize your connection with the community, which is growing rapidly!

More and more states are voting in favor of medical and recreational cannabis use, and Smoke Reports wants to be your open, unbiased guide, no matter where you travel. There is a growing national dialogue about legalization, and we want to be a source for informed decision making, especially for those who are unfamiliar with cannabis culture.

Be part of the conversation and explore the big world of cannabis with us! Get in touch and check out our blog and Facebook page! Remember: The more you read, the better the weed!
